Come to the Table: A Diary of Becoming Catholic is a response to Pamela’s invitation to the heavenly feast known as The Lord’s Supper. She thought it would just be switching churches. But converting to Catholicism turned out to be an all out, inside-out transformation. Riding the surge of new converts to Catholicism in the Jubilee Year of 2025, the real message of this book is to lay aside any prejudice and come to the table for a fresh look at the faith you may have left behind long ago.

There were some parts of this book that, as a child of divorce, I was sure the author had come to my childhood homes and taken expert notes. I was especially suspicious when she mentioned her favorite movie growing up was The Parent Trap – my favorite as well, though through some math I figured that she probably did not mean the 1998 version. There were so many insights about divorce and the regret that comes with it, which helped me process my parents’ divorce in a different light and feel more prepared to take on the challenges of healing childhood wounds with my husband. I also very much appreciated the amount of resources that the author recommended for those that need help or counseling with a variety of issues, from food addiction to childhood trauma resources. While this is not the sole resource I would recommend to those considering or healing from a divorce, it is certainly now added to the roster of resources I will recommend to all those touched by divorce.
